Engagement!

Well...it's official. Wendi is engaged to Daniel Harris! Is this really happening? I knew this day was coming, but it seemed to come way too soon. I guess I'm just not ready to have another child leave the nest soon. It was hard when my oldest, Chera, got engaged and left...and now I have another one. I guess I'm struggling with the fact that my kiddos are growing up. Can't they just stay little?

Anyway, enough pouting. Here are some pictures of their engagement and the ring.

My New Stove

So I finally took some pictures of my new stove. It is really different from my last stove. My new stove is one of the flat cooktops and my old stove had coil burners. It's funny when I go to stir stuff because sometimes the pan will slide off the burner. I'm so used to the coils keeping it in place. But I'm really hyped to be able to use my new stove for Thanksgiving because it has two ovens...a regular oven and a warming drawer/mini oven. So anyway, here are a few pics of my new stove.

What's Been Happening So Far...

So I haven't done very well at keeping up on my blog. That's something I really need to work at. There has been so much going on, sometimes I feel like I'm caught in a whirlwind. I'll do my best to summarize so this won't be too lengthy.

For starters, we have made it through one quarter of the school year. It's been interesting. Wendi is still taking her college courses. Melanie is now in 9th grade and so far, doing well. Eric has entered the junior high phase. Junior high is definitely different from elementary school, especially when in Special Ed. But we're doing our best to help him along and he's doing pretty good. Nikayla is now in the 4th grade and advancing along. Matthew hasn't entered the school realm yet, but will next year. Wow!! I can't believe my baby will be in Kindergarten soon.

Next, I'm in my third year as an assistant cheer coach at Dobson High. It's been a great experience so far. Not gonna lie...it's been trying at times, but I have learned a lot. We've had several injuries that we've had to work through, two of which resulted in concussions. One had to be taken by ambulance from the game because she wasn't responding well and said she couldn't see. Now we're in the process of ordering her a new uniform because the hospital cut her's (or should I say "butchered" her's). Oh well, at least she's going to be alright and returning in 1-2 weeks. We have also entered the "competition" phase. We have several cheer competitions lined up over the next few months, so that's gonna keep me busy as well.

On Thursday, as we were coming home from our game, I got a text from Wendi asking if we were back. She had burned her hand after accidentally grabbing the barrel of an extremely hot curling iron. I rushed home and was shocked at how bad it was. She had burned the majority of her hand and had numerous blisters...big blisters. It was definitely the worst second degree burn I had ever seen. We finally got that all taken care of and now she's on the road to recovery. It still has a long way to being completely healed, but it's getting there.

Then of course, there's the everyday tasks that keep a person hopping...housework, church work, doctor appointments, misc. school functions...and the list goes on. We've also been doing a little remodeling on our house. We've had new flooring put in most of the house; we just have the two kids' bedrooms to finish. We also got a new couch for the family room, along with a new TV set up. And since I didn't wish to cook on a two burner stove anymore, we replaced that with one of those cooktop convection ovens that also has a warming drawer/mini oven. It's pretty nice. I'm still learning how to use it all but I'm getting better.

And today, Daniel Harris comes home from his mission in Argentina. This past year has flown by so quickly. I can't believe he'll be home in a few hours. Wendi is pretty excited!! If all goes according to plan, I see a wedding in the next 4-6 months. We'll just have to see what happens.

So that's a few of the things that have been going on. Hopefully I didn't bore anyone too much. Until next time....

Facebook

So I'm really venturing out. I'm starting this blog site and yesterday I joined Facebook. It's been great reconnecting with friends, classmates and family members. I'm excited to learn how to use this technology that's available to keep in touch with those I care about. I still have a lot to learn, but I'll get it conquered...no doubt! Now all I have to do is start uploading pictures and of course, remember to keep posting.

New Blogger

So I've now entered the blogging world. My dear, sweet daughter, Chera, has graciously shown me how. Hopefully I can remember everything she's taught me. Wish me luck!
